Ingredients
- 1 cup sesame seeds (til)
- 1 cup grated mawa (khoya)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts (cashews, almonds)
- 1 tbsp milk (optional)
- A few saffron strands (optional)
- Silver leaf (chandi ka varak) for garnish (optional)
Method
- Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat until they turn light golden. Set aside to cool.
- In the same pan, heat ghee and add grated mawa. Sauté for a few minutes until it turns slightly golden and releases a fragrant aroma.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder to the mawa. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and comes together.
- Mix in the roasted sesame seeds and chopped nuts. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, then turn off the heat.
- If needed, add a tablespoon of milk to help bind the mixture. Allow it to cool slightly until it's easy to handle.
- Shape the mixture into small round balls (bati) using your hands.
- Garnish each bati with a silver leaf (chandi ka varak) for an elegant presentation, if desired.
- Serve Til Mawa Bati at room temperature as a delicious and healthy sweet snack.
