Method

  1. Frying the Bread: Heat ghee in a pan and fry the bread slices until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain the excess ghee on paper towels.
  2. Preparing the Rabri (Sweetened Milk): In another pan, boil the milk and reduce it to half its original quantity on low heat, stirring continuously to avoid burning. Add sugar, condensed milk, cardamom powder, and saffron strands (if using). Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly
  3. Assembling the Shahi Tukda: Arrange the fried bread slices on a serving dish. Pour the warm rabri evenly over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked. Sprinkle the chopped mixed nuts and rose water or kewra water on top.
  4. Garnishing: If using, place the silver leaf (chandi ka varak) over the top for an authentic royal touch.
  5. Mix in the cooked dal and rajma along with their cooking water. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serving: Serve the Shahi Tukda warm or chilled as a rich and indulgent dessert.
