Method

  1. In a pan, add jaggery and water. Heat it until the jaggery melts completely. Strain to remove any impurities and let it cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt. Add the jaggery syrup and mix well to form a dough. You can also add grated coconut to the dough if desired.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and divide it into small portions.
  4. Shape each portion into a small ball and flatten it slightly.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the flattened dough balls until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  7. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve Chousela warm or at room temperature as a sweet snack.
