Ingredients

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, semolina, and baking powder. Gradually add ghee and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Slowly add cold water to form a smooth batter. Ensure there are no lumps.
  3. Heat ghee in a deep frying pan or kadhai. Pour the batter in a circular motion to form a thin, honeycomb-like disc.
  4. Fry until the ghewar turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from ghee and drain on paper towels.
  5. For the sugar syrup, heat sugar and water in a pan until the sugar dissolves completely. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands, if using.
  6. Dip the fried ghewar into the warm sugar syrup briefly, then remove and place on a serving plate.
  7. Garnish with chopped nuts and let it cool. Serve as a sweet treat.
